About us

It started with a book. Now we prove what works.

In 2019, our CEO and Founder, Antony Welfare, published Commercializing Blockchain: Strategic Applications in the Real World – a practical guide to what Blockchain Technology can actually do for business and government. Crypto was just one chapter; the rest was Real World Use Cases.

TrustCBRC brings that book to life. TrustCBRC now finds, verifies and scores those Real World Use Cases – so businesses, governments and investors can see what actually works.

In two words, Blockchain is about trusted transactions. Our job is to prove where that trust is real.

Why we exist

Blockchain adoption is real – but the evidence is scattered and hard to trust.

  • Discovery

Projects are spread across company sites, ecosystem directories and announcements, with no single place to find them.

  • Comparability

Every team describes maturity and value in its own way, so side-by-side comparison is almost impossible.

  • Evidence

Claims are hard to verify, and hype often drowns out what is actually working.

We built TrustCBRC to fix that – for trust, not hype.

What we do

We Register, Score and Certify Real World Use Cases of Blockchain Technology.

  1. 01

    Register

A project enters the CBRC Use Case Register, a global, searchable record of real blockchain projects.

  2. 02

    Assess

Six AI expert evaluators score 14 questions across six dimensions – 84 data points in total.

  3. 03

    Review

A human analyst checks and signs off every result. AI does the heavy lifting; people make the call.

  4. 04

    Certify

The project receives a 0–100 CBRC Score and a TrustCBRC certificate recorded on Ledger – a permanent, verifiable record.

What we score

Every project is assessed on six dimensions, which combine into one CBRC Score.

Data Integrity and Security
Is the data reliable and tamper-proof?
Trust and Verification
Does it remove manual work and cost?
Efficiency and Scalability
Can it handle real volumes as it grows?
Information Sharing and Collaboration
Who controls it, and how is data shared between parties?
Compliance and Regulation
Can regulators and auditors check it?
Adoption Feasibility
Is it actually used, and does it fit its ecosystem?

Projects pay for the assessment – never for a favourable score. The public register stays open for anyone to research and learn from.

Why it matters

Blockchain is quietly rebuilding how the world moves money and data.

The benefits are transformational – for businesses, governments and everyday people. Here are just a few examples:

  • Example · Payments

    Faster, cheaper payments

Settlement in seconds, and fees that can fall from 3–5% to a fraction of that.

  • Example · Supply chain

    Proof of origin

Knowing the champagne really came from Champagne, or the olive oil from Italy.

  • Example · Public trust

    Transparency

Seeing where a charity donation, or even public money, actually goes.

  • Example · AI

    Trust for AI

As AI agents act on our behalf, their actions need a trusted, verifiable record underneath.

None of this happens on hype. It happens when businesses and governments can see clear evidence of what works.

Built for the long term

TrustCBRC is built to last.

It rests on seven years of research – and we are building for the next decade.

Our journey so far

  1. 2019Commercializing Blockchain: Strategic Applications in the Real World published by Wiley, with contributors including UCL and Oracle.
  2. 2023Nova SBE develops the CBRC scoring method, with support from Ripple’s UBRI programme.
  3. 2024The Commercializing Blockchain Research Centre launches with over 100 use cases.
  4. 2026TrustCBRC, our AI-assisted assessment platform, goes live with on-chain certification.

Where we are going

  1. Pilot
  2. Prove value
  3. Scale
  4. Building ecosystem intelligence

Every assessment adds to a growing, structured dataset on real-world Blockchain adoption, which over time becomes the benchmark institutions, investors and networks rely on – a global register of record for the real-world blockchain economy.

Our founder

Antony Welfare

TrustCBRC was founded by Antony Welfare, who has worked on Blockchain in the real world since 2017.

  • Retail Finance, Strategy and Ecommerce background – where he first saw what Blockchain could do for payments, supply chain and provenance.
  • Launched the Oracle Blockchain Service at Oracle, in Europe.
  • Led more than 50 enterprise Blockchain projects at DXC Technology, across insurance, healthcare and finance.
  • CBDC and Stablecoin adviser at Ripple, working with central banks around the world.
  • Author of Commercializing Blockchain (Wiley, 2019).
People don’t need to know how Blockchain works – they need to know what it can be used for. We will know Blockchain is adopted when we no longer notice we are using it.
